PICSPAM!

In spite of the fact that it's barely spring and all the trees are still bare, I decided to wander around a bit and take some pictures of the local landscape. These pictures are an effort in a) documenting my latest location, and b) practicing my mad zoom and picture-taking skillz.

Sweet little house on a hill. Streetsville is a small townish place in the middle of a suburb with a population of over half a million (about 700,000 at this point), so a place like this is hardly what you expect to find there. I think this place is so sweet, but I bet it costs half a million.

The folks who own this place had some fun with it; blue trim, yellow gables. Aside from the fact that it's right on the main street (which is not unbusy; it was hard enough taking pictures without cars in them), this house is pretty dreamy. It must be monstrously big, though...every side has more and more sections to it.

How do the rest of you survive without a psychic mere steps from your door?

And, for [livejournal.com profile] treehavn, our local Masonic Lodge. Doesn't it look majestic and mysterious?

My cousin is a Mason! It's rather funny, as his name is Jason. Geez, it's hard to write those two things in such a close proximity to one another.
Just judging on these pictures, it looks like such a picturesque little city! Aww. And cute. Is that implied? I don't know. On another subject: Puh-LEASE tell me you went and got your palm read, just for kicks? PLeeaasseee?
I hope, if you did, it brought a hilarious story that brings you joy in dark doorways on rainy nights.

PS: I am disappointed you did not say "mysteeerious?" and wiggle your fingers.

PPS: I like the Chevy pickup by the Masonic Lodge. =D Also, the trashcan.

The wiggling happened, I just didn't manage to translate it into text. *wiggles*

Oh Streetsville. How lovely it is. :) You're in an area I haven't been too, though, if the psychic is any indication!

Oh really? Streetsville isn't very big! If you've been here, I'm sure you passed by it. It's right on the main strip!

[identity profile] ordencodex.livejournal.com 2006-04-11 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe. It's been years since I spent any time there, though. :)

Oh, the house with blue trim - we wantss it! And a lilac psychic and that majestic Masonic Lodge; what more do you need. :D

I'm looking forward to taking more pictures once it's summer and more, you know, green and stuff. :) I like that house too. I have these little fantasies of having millions of dollars and buying up all these beautiful houses. My mortgage clock is ticking...

YOUR MASONIC LODGE IS PUNY COMPARED TO MINE BWAHAHAHAHAHA!

Seriously, the Grand Lodge of Ontario (which, by default, is also kind of the GL of Canada...don't you love all these random facts?) is in Hamilton. What's up with that?

I thought you'd appreciate that shot. Yes, it's puny. But they appear to have a lot of parties for wild teenagers. I can't say I understand it.

Thanks for posting these, they're lovely. I like your little town, and the white wooden house is gorgeous; we don't really have wooden, shingled houses here. We do have a ton of psychics, though - and voodoo practitioners!
Also, I like the cheesy name-plate on the first little house. Reminds me of Patty's Place.

I like my little town too. Though, to be perfectly honest, I'm taking this pictures because it's NOT a little town at all; this is just the nice part of a monstrous, bloated, completely unplanned suburb of Toronto. Our official "downtown" is a MALL. You can't walk across the street from city hall because it's a 6 lane highway. People think I'm suffering for some kind of crime by living here, so I take this pictures to prove that it does have it's nice bits, and I managed to fall into one of them.

Voodoo practitioners, eh? That sounds like fun. Good to see you, btw. Seeing your icon always gives my day a lift. :)

That masonic lodge looks like a two-story public toilet or some kind of welfare cheque-getting-place.

I bet that's part of their plan.

Yes, perhaps that's their cover.

I really like "Abigail's Home".

I notice a decided lack of snow in all of these shots which makes me more than a bit jealous. *grumblegrumble stupid city snowplows shoved their loads into my north-facing front yard and I will have snow there till June grumblegrumble*

What is this "snow" of which you speak? I don't remember seeing much of that this year. :P

And I would reply, "What is that bright glowing orb in the sky? Surely it is a sign of the approaching Day of Judgment!"

LOL, I had the exact same response after I visiited my family in Seattle for a couple of weeks. I came home and was "OMG, sun!"
